New Microtransit Pilot

An app-enabled, on-demand service providing transit options and connections to the TriMet system will launch in South Beaverton, Tigard and/or Aloha in 2025. The location of this microtransit pilot is still to be determined.

Service Proposal: We’d like to study the potential expansion of microtransit to other areas in Washington County beyond the grant-funded pilot phase.

Microtransit is a multi-passenger vehicle public transportation option allowing riders to use a phone app or other technology to schedule a ride from their location. The vehicle route is determined by the places passengers need to go.

Rural Workforce Shuttle

Washington County has explored alternatives for shuttle service to rural employment locations during the past several years.

Service Proposal: We’d like to develop new shared-ride services in the rural area to serve rural employment locations, applying lessons learned from the microtransit pilot.

Enhanced westLink service

In August 2024, two additional roundtrips will be added to the westLink service, along with new stops in Forest Grove and North Plains.

Service Proposal: We are considering increasing westLink weekday service frequency and implementing new weekend service.

Improved interregional connections

Washington County transit services, provided by Ride Connection, provide connections to Tillamook County Transportation District, Cascades POINT, NorthWest POINT, Yamhill County Transit and SMART bus service.

Service Proposal: We are considering increasing coordination with state and regional transit providers to improve transit connections between Washington County and the Oregon Coast and Willamette Valley.

Shuttle stop capital improvements

Increased amenities and improved accessibility are being implemented at some Ride Connection shuttle stops throughout 2024 and 2025.

Service Proposal: We are considering comfort and accessibility enhancements at additional stops, as well as improvements to make it safer to walk or bike to shuttle stops.
